For well over forty years the United States has been working on eliminating “Racial Segregation” Yet certain groups of people still continue allow racism to affect their daily lives.

Just the other day I found myself walking around Game Stop and looking for something new to play, when I stumbled upon the most racist game I have ever seen, called BCFX: The Doug Williams Edition. Now after further investigation I found out that BCFX stands for “Black College Football eXperience”. The description of the game taken from gamestop.com reads as follows:

“BCFx – The Doug Williams Edition is a first-of-its-kind game that immerses players in the rich culture, history and pageantry of football game day on Historically Black College and University (HBCU) campuses. The game fuses realistic, bone-jarring football action created using the Unreal 3.0 engine with two unique new rhythm games – the interactive Halftime Show and Drum Line Challenge. In addition, a wealth of historical data has been integrated in the Legacy Museum and dozens of licensed tracks performed by college football’s most entertaining marching bands are included in the game’s Jukebox.”

So the main thing I feel we need to ask ourselves is what the reason is for segregating one race in a video game? I am completely aware of “HBCU” and all of it’s history and success as an “All Black University,” but why target only one type of University which only allows one race to be marketed to.

Born and raised in Detroit Michigan I took complete offense to the games content. I was raised that everyone is equal and segregation is wrong some of my closest friends are from the African American descent. But yet I found myself disturbed and wondering why this game, why now.

So after deep thought, I would like to propose two questions:

Would other races be willing to puchase this game? And would this race be willing to purchase other racially segregated video games?
